Supernatural Underground: New Release Round-Up and Giveaway

Supernatural Underground: New Release Round-Up and Giveaway: "Summer is in full swing and it’s the perfect time to curl up in a lounge chair with a great book. So, we wanted to let you know about some ..."

Hello to my blog followers. I know I am not the most popular blogger on the planet but I am getting pretty disheartened at not ever getting any comments from anyone..... like ever..... do I suck that bad? Don't answer I know I do.... yes that is a bit harsh even for self critisism but thats my opinion at this point in my life. How the hell do I have over 600 friends on FB and almost the same on Twitter but can't get more than 25 of my amazing "followers" to stop by and comment on my little musings. Do I need some flash and dazzle contest? Do I need a revamp of my blog? Do I need to offer some daily or weekly dose of nekkidness? (I do have the hunk of the day on the bottom of the blog.... scroll down and see).

I am lost as to what to do..... I am open to any ideas..... yeah I am holding my breath ...... waiting..... waiting.... LOL Yeah No idea what to do. Well lets just leave that open and anyone want to jump in and make me an offer I can't refuse.... I am open to offers. I would even give it all up to just join in on the fun on another blog with my same likes..... Henry Cavill and Hockey (Sabres especially) and Vampires.... I know that there are more than just myself who enjoy those activities.... and believe me Henry Cavill loving is a very nIIIIIce activity.

So what is new in my little slice of life. Well, working on some very lovely bookthongs for some amazing authors this week. Had some trouble when a few big orders came in getting the proper beads in to enamel but after talking nicely to the fabric store where I buy them, I am happy to say that I will no longer have that problem in the future. They are very pretty BTW.... and I take orders at any time so please just drop me a line and ask.

My other major news..... I have to find a way to pull through the pain from my chronic shoulder pain and exercise more....and loose some weight. My eating and sleeping problems lately have not helped in this situation and now the Doc has put his foot down. I know my main problem is I eat a lot of grains and breads and I am targeting that as my first priority. Today.... at least up until right now I have had only 2 slices of bread compared to my usual 4-6 by this time in the day. If I can at least keep to that target for the first week I will be happy..... oh and keeping away from the sweets.... I made it a point of making sure the last of my milkdud stash is gone. LOL So..... any ideas I would love to hear them. I need to drop at least 1-2 a week over the next 8 weeks to meet the Docs first target. So.... by my anniversary I need to be down a minimum of 10 pounds. We shall cross our fingers and hope.

I must close now but would love to hear from anyone.... yes anyone on any topic..... I might even blog again this week and tell you all more about my possible trip to see my beloved Sabres take on one of my fave players off Buffalo, Steven Stamkos (have to support the cutie who played for the Sarnia Sting) and also dig in to the whirlwind that being a hockey parent entails when gearing up for his first Draft year.....

Kate Pearce and Darynda Jones Contests..... Check it out

Todays post is going to be short and sweet. I am trying not to distract myself with other stuff and get some reviews done. Unfortunately my sons left CMT on and the videos today are distracting.... and it is too cold to move out of my blankie to find the remote... LOL

Two things I want to inform you about today. Both events at Bitten by Books one today and one tomorrow. The first is todays event, a Kindle contest and interview with Kate Pearce. If you have yet to read the first book in Kates Tudor vampires series you have missed something major. This book was amazing. I read the reviews and bought it a while back but it sat on my TBR pile until I took a break and put a dent into my pile in early January. So not happening when the next book Blood of the Rose gets here hopefully very soon. I ordered it along with a few others last week when I got some late Christmas money. In any case check out the interview and by all means take this as a suggestion ...... go buy both books and enjoy. Here is the link.....

http://bittenbybooks.com/?p=36119#comments

The second event is another book that was recommended to me last week too. Unfortunately I have yet to read this book but the comments and reviews have put it on the TBB list for sure. Check out Darynda's contest today as well. You can check it out tomorrow at BBB but for now you can RSVP to get more contest entries.....

Making someones day......and giving hope for the future

Today I am not at my peak so I thought about getting a few things done that didn't take too much energy. When it came push to shove, the thing I wanted to get done the most was scratched off the list since I can't find my findings to get further on a book thong order I am working on. So what else, read, write up some reviews? I should do both or either but my brain does not want to wrap around anything today. So here is my meet in the middle compromise..... write a new blog entry... hopefully get my juices flowing so I can work on my reviews and maybe while I am sitting here I can remember where my findings are.

So what to talk about..... today it is an easy jump. The other day my 12 YO came home from school and said.... Mom there is a girl in my class that says there is no way you talk to all these authors and know so many of them. I said to him "Well, what did you tell her?" His reply.... "Well she does and she gets all these signed Arc things all the time."
Laughing I asked well who is this person and which author is it that she likes.
"Its Bailey (his kinda gf) and she likes the tenth grade books"
"Ah that would be Heather Brewer?"
"I don't know.... the one that you have on the car" (my antenna topper is the Vampire Tod symbol ball)
We left it at that and had supper. Sitting in my room I was in the middle of something when I looked at one of my piles of books that had some buttons from RT on it..... sitting there was one of a few Heather Brewer smiley vamp buttons I had snagged. Calling my son up I gave him the button to give his friend the next day.... "She is going to love this mom. Its her favorite author."
The next day after school I asked if he remembered to give it to her.
"Oh yeah she liked it."
"Well what did she say?"
"Oh..... thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou....."
I smile and say well I am glad. He smiles and leaves the room blushing with rosey cheeks.

So with that little "glad I made someones day" moment I remembered back to the first week in January. We were at same sons cadet Christmas dinner which had been postponed due to the massive storm we had in Dec. Sitting across from me was a teenaged girl who was kinda sullen about coming out to the dinner with her dad, bro and grandma. There was a halo around her that said stay away.... I don't want to be here and don't want anyone to notice me. Here was several boys she was crushing on and she had to sit there and take the teasing that was going on around her since she was not a part of the group. Well as it turns out, her father and I grew up hanging around each other so our little anecdotes and conversation slowly turned her head away from the boys and into our conversation. Turns out she is a want to be writer. In fact she loves the paranormal and tends to go towards the dark stuff. Her first question to me when I tell her that I am a reviewer???? "So what is your opinion on the Twilight books?"

Ah, knew this was coming.... it always does. Debating whether to say what I truly felt or give it a little softening, I decided to say what I thought and see what she had to say.

"Well, I liked the books, but they were not even close to the best of the genre and the portrayal on the big screen left much to be desired."

Holding my breath to see her reaction. She got a big grin on her face and countered with "Wow. That is the truth. I thought the same thing." LOL I sat there and let the relief surround me. I don't want to be the catalyst that discourages young people to stray from what they want to do but with a teen and that dicey subject it is hard not to be honest and get grief from most that you talk to about it. After that ice breaker she was a non stop dynamo. There was no option to continue talking to her dad.... she asked me question after question and really listened to the advice I gave her about following her dreams and her plans to continue writing whatever she wants. I also reminded her to keep her works.... looking back some day those grade 6 essays that the teacher deemed too dark might be the start of a thesis in college that leads to a promising career. We ended the night with everyone getting involved in their gift exchange and our little conversation forgotten. The one thing that was different though..... this young girl glowed with self worth.... and she confidently came up to me as we were leaving and said..... "Guess what.... I got two email addy's from two boys and three asked for mine.... Don't tell dad".

Oh my .... I think I created a monster... LOL

Blogger Helping Out

In your lifetime, there are few moments when you're given the opportunity to directly save another person's life. - Bryan Mealer, HuffPo

If you had a chance to save somebody's life, and it didn't take all that much..... would you do it? Well, here's that chance.

Check out Shiloh Walker's blog for a chance to read how you can help save a man's life.....

http://shilohwalker.com/website/?p=17740

Go to Shiloh Walkers blog. Leave a comment. That it. She needs 400 comments and she will make a $400 donation to this cause. Marrion P'Udongo is a hero. He needs help. Go to her blog and give her the support to help out with this cause. While you are there if you are able to help out with a monetary donation there is a prize made of awesome that I would die for but being unemployed I am not able to help that way. This is my way to help.... get the word out and spread it around.... please do not link it to the various "contests" pages.... use your own words, your tweets, your blog or even just a few words. It will help. And Thank you..... from both myself and Shiloh and mostly from a very important man who needs some support.

Helllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooo

Hey blogworld. Been a while, I know I should make this my go too every day or at least every week but I am not happy with what I have going on here and want to make a change. That would be fine but with no income I am totally hogtied.

So why did I decide to stop by tonight and grace everyone with a blog post...... I don't really know why to tell the truth. And if I am really honest maybe this isn't the best time to post a new blog while I am in the middle of watching a Buffalo Pittsburgh game. I am a biiiiiig hockey fan and love my Sabres but there are a handful of teams I cannot stand. Anyone who has friended my on FB or Twitter know I am very much anti-Pittsburg professional teams. The PENGUINS at the top of the list but the Steelers a close second. But.... I will try to ignore the current score and the biased announcers who do not have a frekkin clue and continue on.

This week has finally given me a few highs. Something that I have been missing lately. First I won the monthly contest for pumpin out 23 reviews last month then the same day I found out I won a contest by the very special Joanne Kenrick. She had a contest all month for those who supported her new book (Which I gave a 4 1/2 out of 5) When a Mullo Loves a Woman. So with those wins I was close enough to pick out a new ereader. Mine, if anyone remembers was bought last Christmas, was a joyous occasion but soon turned to irritation when the battery caused recurring problems. Even after sending it in at the end of the warranty to get fixed it came back the same. So now unless I want to use it wired into the wall I can get about 2 hours out of it tops, and that is if I don't use the touch screen or Goddess forbid use the notebook features. So I bobbled back between getting a kindle or a cruz tablet. I was told not to get a certain type of touch screen and the lower end cruz was one of those. I then checked out the 301 Cruz tablet Android and decided to jump in and go for it. It was on sale too and only $40 bucks more than the kindle it is full colour and is loaded with the kindle app and I can use my pdfs too.

To polish off that day, my good friend Marnie sent me an old blackberry to use along with an extra autographed Gena Showalter book and I won an autographed book from Katie MacAlister. So whoot to the hoot. I am on top of the world. Then today, my son finally decided that he would give me some cash to order some books for my Christmas present. (I won't get into it but Christmas this year was harsh.... I only got to open one gift, and it was something I probably will never use or wear but that is all behind me now... :( ) So happy happy, with the money and about another tenner, I ordered 10 books from the Book Depository ending my book buying drought. LOL

So what else have I been doing....... stalking NHLers or rather ex NHLers at my sons hockey tournament seemed to be my most exciting highlight of late. My son played in a major International Silver Stick and played against several ex NHLer's sons. Their team is a lower ranked team (46 in Ontario 64 in Canada) but they held their own against the top teams in North America. Now it is time to get his stuff in gear for summer hockey. Last summer he competed for Team Ontario in the State Wars Inline tournament and this summer we are hoping to find a competitive team for him to do some tournaments as well. On top of that next year is draft year and there are scouts out at almost every game. Was a good moment to hear that the scout at last weeks game was only interested in him.... especially when they had a bad loss and he got kicked out with half a period left over.... yep the boy has his momma's temper. LOL

Well it is time to head out. I plan on making one extra post that I will add separately. My fave author Shiloh Walker is one author that tells it like it is and puts her heart on her sleeve when it comes to supporting those in need. Right now there is a hero who needs everyones help. Being unemployed I am not in the position, no matter how tempting the prize, to put money to the cause but I would love any of my few followers to check out her blog and do what they can do. Thank you for that BTW..... tell her your opinions and make your comment count.

Oh yeah..... Go Sabres Go..... down by one right now so it is still anyones game. And lets GO STING tomorrow.... we need to get back into the game and show Chatham that Monday was a fluke... Oh and I might as well add...... GO GREEN AND GOLD..... Lets go Packers..... :)

Bitten By Books events this week

Hey guys. As you know I review for Bitten By Books. I love the gals and guy from this unique and close knit group of reviewers. Today is a newer author in the spotlight with his new release Secret Cravings. Kris Allen admits that he rubs shoulders with one of my fave authors, Shayla Black, and loves many of the same authors that I do. Check out the event today and get into the draw for some Amazon bucks. I bought the book and can't wait to dig in..... did I tell you it was a menage....with shifters..... nuf said I know.... In any case I think it is worth the price to grab this book and I hope you will too.

What is going on?????

OK first off. I didn't fall off the planet, didn't run away with a sexy shifter/vampire and have tonnes of fanged beybey's and I didn't forget my password and get locked out of my own blog..... actually the last one might have been a problem for a bit. What has happened is life. Since my last blog I have gone on my first and best vacation since I was 12 years old that didn't involve hockey, camping or visiting family in the bush. I got to go to the Romantic Times Convention in Columbus Ohio, met some amazing people, made a pile of new friends, partied with several of my favorite authors (check out BittenByBooks.com/?P=24443 ) It was the best event I had ever gone to and one of the most memorable times in my life recently. Since then it has been a whirlwind of chaos, excitement, and changes.

One of the major events was my son getting to compete in the STate Wars Inline HOckeyChampionships in Chicago. We had never been there before and it was quite the bonding drive with some very interesting sites along the way (well if you include a man driving down the highway with a strap-on attatched to his face interesting). He competed as part of an 8 skater team representing Ontario.... so very cool. It was amazing to get up on the big ferris wheel at Navy Pier and check out the buildings etc. We have had non stop hockey since then, he helped at hockey school out of town which meant I spent the days at the beach reading and relaxing and just enjoying myself. Why did I have the time to do this??? Because I quit my job. I couldn't handle the stress and my problems with my shoulder and now my hip joints was too much so with much consideration I jumped...... and until the news I got minutes ago I have been swimming without a life jacket since. See, they don't like when you quit..... even if you paid in to unemployment for decades and have a reason..... and today... yep months later.... it was OK'd for sick leave. Any way.... I know I went at it wrong and I should have done it that way first but seylavie it is done. So now on to hockey season, football season and even recently wrestling for my sons' highschool teams. It is a constant battle to get them all to where they have to be but hopefully it will help them in what they want to do in the future. Hockey even took me to Pittsburgh recently..... where I sat front row, wanting to slap some certain player in the mug just cause he bugs me so much.... LOL I did come home with another great dinner conversation with VA and Petey since they came and picked me up for dinner out away from the boys and a massive cold that lasted for weeks.
Oh yeah and I almost forgot.... we have a new puppy.... he is now 7 months old and is a pain in the butt. HIs name is SAbre... after the best team in the NHL but hubby calls him Dink. He gets into anything and everything, loves to eat tape, and still is not house trained. We love him but he sure knows how to use those eyes to get him out of trouble.

Last week I had another excitement.... I entered on their facebook page and got a personal invite by The Trews to their Christmas party in Toronto.... it was fricken awesome. Best concert in forever that I have been to. We were right at the front hugging the speakers and since it was an XMradio and Trews private party there were only about 150 people there making it an intimate affair.

Now we are in another kind of excitement around here...... no not Christmas but a massive snow dumping that has left hundreds stranded in their cars and vehicles, hundreds more in accidents and the county being declared a State of Emergency. Even my son had his car stuck off the side of the road for 2 days until some farmers managed to pull it out for him. Where it was just outside of the towns limits there were about a dozen or more cars and two transports. Pretty scary stuff. So now on day three with no schools and the roads just starting to be opened for use out of town it is still a mess here. I guess we will have a white Christmas this year after all.

So many other things have gone on, my one son played really well in school rugby and was voted to the all star team before heading to OFFSSA, my youngest just joined Cadets (something he has wanted to do forever) and he also played Joseph in the live nativity. As for me I am still working on plunking out my reviews for Bitten By Books and hope you drop by and check them out. I just submitted my 400th review a week or two back for the site and although a bit slowed down this week have had over 200 this year alone and am quite proud of that accomplishment...... only problem is that my personal reads are getting neglected. So now that I am back... hope that you will drop me a line and help me catch up with you.... am looking for another way to do my blog, formats etc so any ideas feel free to leave them in the comments.

Were in the world have I been????

The title of my post might insinuate that I have been away... well no not really..... well actually since my last post I have been to another hockey tournament with my family.... or rather the younger two and my hubs. The older ones stayed home to take care of the animals and eat everything that wasn't nailed down. Anyway.... to get back to where I haven't been.... well that is pretty much anywhere. I am the one, when all the other hockey parents are sitting there with their winter tans and their multiple stamps on their passports, who has to sit quietly and listen to them compare the various Mexican, Dominican, European destinations.... and believe me it gets pretty competitive..... except for me who hasn't been further than a couple of hours out of Canada in over 30 years, and no further than my home province of Ontario in Canada. Depressed much.... naw.... who wants to be able to take the time and money to do something fun like see another part of the world.?

So.... what has been going on that has held me away from this blog that rarely gets comments, but allows me to vent on my little corner of the world?? Most particularily my health, and work situations.... pretty much a twofer right now anyway. Finally got to see the doc this week. Knee needed xrays, and physio..... and the rest of the problems doc says is due to my weight, my sleep problems and stress..... so in other words.... get a life and you will be fine. The weight I have struggled with forever..... when I was a teen I had a slim build and a 27-28 waist.... I still weighed 150 pounds.... so now after having 5 c sections with the incisions cut the wrong way, I am a bit more than that.... but even when I bounce up and down... which I have before it might seem to go away but really goes somewhere else.... as for the stress.... work and the lack of a job that I can commit to 40 hours a week because of my knee ....have caused a major stress problem with my life. With the lack of a full time job there is no money and without the money it causes more stress but I can't stand to be on my feet that many hours in a week.... nice round robin curse I live in right>?> Anyway these are a few of the reasons I have been negligent on the blog.... that and my sleep is very erratic right now.... I can be typing away at 2 in the after noon and zonk out with my hands still on the keys for a few hours.... never done that before... so that is why tomorrow I will be setting up an appointment for a sleep disorder test. Yay me.... LOL

So what else is new??? Going to send in my funds to go to RT this year.... I made almost enough with my book thongs and hope that a few more sales might trickle in to make me some spending money and pay for the hotel. So anyone wanting some please let me know...... there is only one change in the cost. Due to paypal fees and higher shipping I will have to charge for the shipping cost for all the sales. Right now I will still conceed the paypal fees.....

Now for some fun..... as you know from previous posts I love Shiloh Walkers work. She is having a new contest for a nook.... in a separate posting I will be telling you all about the contest... be sure to tell her that I sent you... LOL not that it makes a difference but it would let me know that someone really is reading my posts. So expect that blog in the morning.... right now I am going to try and go to sleep... Night all... talk later

No Prince Charming

What little girl has not dreamed of finding her Prince Charming...... ????? Well what would happen if both Prince Charming and his Cinderella found a chance at happiness over 300 years after they had first found ...... and lost each other. Taking a famous and frequently abused fairy tale and putting her imaginative spin on it, Shiloh Walker has once again found gold. Joining her first Grimm tale Candy Houses http://samhainpublishing.com/romance/candy-houses is the latest in the Samhain publishing novella series No Prince Charming http://samhainpublishing.com/coming/no-prince-charming which releases next Tues Jan 26 2010. This book was amazing.... sexy Grimms (guardian angels), demonic succubi and a love triangle that has the players finding lost love in a sex club. I won the chance to read this book a few days prior to publication and will be tweeting some cool blurbs from the book on Mon and Tues for Shiloh. Watch for the hockeyvampiress tweets to find out more but for now here is a little treat for my followers......

Another memory that didn't fade ? The Memory of the pain in her eyes the day she realized who he was. Her stepsister's fiance.

Watching her walk away had been the hardest thing he'd ever done in his life. To that point.

Since then, his life had been a study of hard lessons. Watching as another man touched this woman was just the latest lesson.

Living a long, empty life without her. Watching her tuwn away from him. Running after her only to find her too late. By the time he'd caught up with her she was forever out of his reach--unless he made a choice.

"The day will come when she will need you. The day will come when she will die without you. But it will not be easy. You will spend a great many years alone..... you may die saving her and even if you don;t, she may never forgive you. What do you choose....live for her? Or would you rather die?"

That was the choice he'd been given all those years ago by a strange white haired man who went by the name of Will.

"How can she ever need me again? She is dead. I have failed her." " Things are rarely as they seem. The woman you love is not dead."

Michael closed his eyes, banishing the memories. He couldn't think of the night he'd come face-to-face with Will. Couldn't think about how he had plunged a knife into his own chest either...........

See what I mean..... who wants more of this Prince.... more of his beloved Elle???? Tuesday is your chance to find out more about this pair, how they came to be together and how they survived for over 300 years without contact only to be brought back together to thwart an evil demon.....

Later S.

What would you do....

Hey everyone.... Happy New Year!!!

Got to say that I am very very glad that 2009 is over. A new decade... hopefully a new break for my family in the financial, health and stability situation. Actually ever since my car accident in Nov of 08 my life has taken a tale spin and I can only hope that I can find a way to change that for the good in this fresh new year. My health probs though are prob not going to change... according to my doctor last time I talked to him I would have shoulder probs my whole life and now my knee is acting up.... OK has been acting up for the last 6 months... got to go in soon and see if there is anything they can do for it... tired of braces and pain....
Anyway.... lets talk about something fun today.... A blast from the past was handed to me today at work. A friend that I used to be a penpal with when I was 14 brought in an old letter that I wrote her back in 1980....it had a very naughty recipe for Banana Bread... ingredients included 2 laughing eyes, one large banana, a fur lined bowl.... well I think you get the idea.... anyway the fact that she kept this letter was mind boggling since we never really hung out to much, she was my neighbours that I babysat fors kid sister, but wrote letters maybe once a month to each other.... On the other side was the letter itself and I killed myself laughing at it almost as much as the banana bread because I was telling her how I got sent a autographed picture of Peter Barton and she needed to come see it when she came down next time. Can anyone remember Peter Barton???? I also loved Shaun Cassidy.... he was my fave... got an autographed pic of him too..... sent him christmas ornament one year made of sugar...??? LOL

Speaking of sending things to people you idolize.... tonight I entered another contest to win an arc of Broken by Shiloh Walker. Shiloh is one of may absolutely fave authors. I have most of her books available in print and would love to get an arc of one of her books to add to my collection. I did manage to get an e arc of her last work Hunters Need but it isn't quite the same for a print collector like me.... I have offered to bring her a bottle of ice wine to the RT convention next April which is the week before my birthday. I still have hopes to attend and have half the money saved from the sales of my book thongs to pay for my registration. So if anyone else wants to order some and help me out I would love you forever. Anyway.... back to the arc of Broken... if anyone else wants to help me out by giving me an idea of how to get on Shiloh's good girls list let me know.... I am going to be doing a review here, possibly BBB or Beautiful Reads, amazon, facebook book review and wherever else I can get the word out.

So finishing tonight with my other love.... hockey.... we had a very sad young man go to bed with tears in his eyes after tonights loss to US in the gold medal game of the World Junior Hockey tournament. Every year the finals are on my youngest sons birthday and this is the only hockey that he ever really enjoys.... wants to watch and even dresses up for. He does not participate in sports like my other boys and when he can actually join in on the fun and excitement of the game we all love it is really great. When asked by anyone who his favorite team is he always says Canada. I must say though that except for the one sided officiating in the first half of the game, it was a very good game to watch. The US boys outskated ours and were very fast on the puck. We had some great chances and the Campell boy was amazing in net saving the game more than once in the last few minutes of the game.
In my own hockey watching.... my boys in blue and gold are still playing great.... they have their off nights but all in all they are playing fantastic. Congrats to my fave Ryan Miller for making the US Olympic team.... good for you.... your efforts will take them further in the game in Feb. My sons team has yet to win a game in regular play... they have struggled off and on all year, have tied some of the top teams but have failed to put a W on the page.... But on the other hand in tournament play they are 5-3-2 and 2 of the losses were only 1 goal games.... so heading to Buffalo in a couple weeks we are optimistic that they will do well there too. The only problem..... we are going to Buffalo when my beloved Sabres are on a west coast swing and they will not be any home games for me to attend with my son who loves the SAbres too....

Well going to sound off for the night.... thanks for visiting.... keep your fingers crossed for my win of a Shiloh Walker arc, for the boys to win in Buffalo and for the snow to stop falling.... LOL

Later..... Shell

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

........... or as my brother and I used to say.... Hari Krishna..... OK we were a bit weird as kids..... MC and all the other holiday greetings used to get old and I think it was after watching Airplane one night way back we decided to say Hari Krishna instead of the old standbys..... Which leads me to another tradition in my moms house.... ok the back story first..... my younger by 9 years brother one day decided to use some paint to paint a greeting on the front picture window.... he wrote NOEL on the glass and it looked pretty good..... except that from the street it shouted out LEON......well my mother got really PO'd at my other brother and myself when we bugged him about it for years..... and for some reason after almost 30 years she is still getting upset... LOL See when my grandmother passed back in the 80's she had knickknacks and dishes galore.... the house was small and old and in fact the roof on the back bedroom had collapsed and she didn't tell anyone about it.... you see if a TV died she put a new one in front of it.... if she got a new couch.... she put it in front of the other and used it as storage..... you could go to her house and find a neatly stacked newspaper clipping or the whole paper from a year ago...see my grama was the ultimate Scotch woman.... never threw anything away and was a major packrat...... I am soooooooooo much like her.... unfortunately for my house that is very deficient of storage space... LOL Anyway back to the story.... she had sooooooo many little goodies and one was a set of angels that each had a letter............ spelling NOEL if you put them on the mantel in the right order..... the tradition is who can sneak into my moms house and living room and rearrange the letters to spell LEON....cause it still upsets both my brother and my mom..... everyone else is in on it now including my sons and my other brothers daughters..... one Christmas dinner we changed it like 10 times....
soooooooooooooooooo what fun things do you do for a tradition...... something different....???

I have been really busy this past while like everyone has..... work has picked up but I am going to try and find a new job in the near future..... I am getting burnt out and last week had a total melt down. The stress of this time of year is hard on me and I can't take it.... I was sick this week and spent 4 days barely getting out of bed..... it was horrible... only thing good was that on my side my head stopped spinning and I could get some reading done.... now I need to get the reviews done. Plus yesterday is a black day on the calendar for me.... not going into details but it was the anniversary of the birth and death of my middle son and even though it has been 15 years it always hits me hard.

Now I wanted to say one more thing before I sign off for the day and probably until the new year..... I have a book here that is by a new author..... it IS AMAZING !!!! I read anything from YA to erotica.... I love the written word and am addicted to many popular authors and series and this book is the beginning of a new addiction. The Dark Devine by Bree Despain is going to be released on Dec 22. It is a YA paranormal novel and is one of the best in the genre that I have read in a long time. ........

Young Grace Devine is a good girl. Her father, the local pastor, her mom, and the rest of her family always give to others and never forget to help everyone in need. What she can't understand is the young man who was a part of that family is now back in town, in need of help and is being outcast by everyone in her family except herself. What secret sent him away from them to begin with, why is her brother becoming more and more moody, her parents are now fighting and she is drawn to the sexy dark boy like never before. Climaxing in a Thanksgiving day dinner party that cracks more than one hole in her perfect life and a school dance that leaves a gaping wound in her heart after being betrayed by someone she loves, Grace must find it within herself and those she believes in to help set things right again.

This is just a brief summary..... I have done a larger review for Bitten By Books and I hope that you will check it out too..... I will be posting the link as soon as it becomes available.... in the meantime please check it out.... www.breedespain.com You won't be dissapointed.....

Thats all for now..... if anyone wants to leave a comment not only would that be novel.... but it would be cool to hear from everyone else what fun tradition you might have twisted now or in your youth.... later

Yahoooooooo What a Weekend....

Right now I am still realing and feeling some of the after effects of the long weekend I spent in Monroe Michigan but it was worth it.... My sons team has not had a stellar start. They have been improving but with over 2/3 of the reg season done they have yet to add a win to the W column.... well the boys headed down with one member shy of a full roster and came back with the gold.... Yep some amazing hockey was witnessed as they took on Westland for a 1-1 tie in the first game. Starting out Sat morning playing the Trenton team in Trenton took a lot of effort because the reffing was very one sided.... and not for the visiting team. The boys effort sent them back down the highway to Monroe with a 4-3 win..... The afternoon had the boys facing the home MOnroe team and the officiating was as expected with numerous one sided calls.... but the boys fought hard again and battled to another 1-1 tie. Sun morning found the boys in the AAA finals sitting in 4th place. They faced a team from their home division, Hamilton, and once again the score at the end of regulation was 1-1..... going into overtime with over 3 min gone one of the defence took it all the way and scored the game winner. The finals later that afternoon were going to be either a blowout or another close game as the boys were forced to settle all afternoon and not get into too much trouble so they would save their energy. It worked and they came out of it a 3-0 win..... We are all sooooooo proud of them..... only 11 goals scored but winners over a 5 game tourney was amazing in itself but the control and defensive game they played was some of the best hockey I have seen in quite some time. Too bad I started feeling not so good on the way home.... made it to my Moms in time but missed work on Mon to curl up and recoup.

BTW..... it was worth it to see Hockeystar so excited and he himself was amazing with 3 goals/ at least 2 assists and a plus 4 for the tourney.

Now back to my regular life..... today one of my favorite authors, Shiloh Walker is at Bitten By Books today for the launch of Hunters Need.... an amazing book..... please read my reviews, leave a comment, tell them I sent you and win some awesome pressies....

Got to head out but please be sure to leave some comments.... later....
